We aim to keep our bike hire prices as competetive as possible. Nevertheless for 2023 we have had to make some increases to our standard bike hire fees. This is to address the substantial increases in energy costs, transport costs and the price of bikes and bike paerts. The e-bike hire fees have also had to increase for next season in order to cover day to day running costs.
We offer full day hires and half day hire periods. A half day is up to 4 hrs in duration and is generally regarded as a 'morning session' or an 'afternoon session'. [I.e. 9.30am - 1.30pm or 2.00pm - 6.00pm .... or thereabouts].
For multiple day hires the hire rate for each day after your first day decreases.
The bike hire prices below are for the bikes in our local fleet i.e. for use on Barra/Vatersay/Eriskay/S Uist.
For those wanting bikes for use on the Hebridean Way there is a different daily bike hire bike pricing structure. Please ask for our 2023 informatiuon sheet which will give you a full breakdown of these hire fees.
ADULT BIKES
Standard bikes:- Full day bike hire - £20.00 first day / £14.00 per day on day 2 / £12.00 per day for every day thereafter.
Half day hires - £14.00
E-bikes:- Full day bike hire - £38.00 first day / £28.00 per day on day 2 / £24.00 per day for every day thereafter.
Half day hires - £28.00
YOUTH BIKES (Youths are regarded as being up to and including 16yr olds and requiring an adult size bike )
Full day hire - £16.00 on day 1 / £12.00 on day 2 and then £10.00/day for every day thereafter.
Half day hires - £12.00
CHILD BIKES (Children are age 12 and under and hiring a 'childs bike' i.e. a bike with wheel sizes on 24" or less)
Full day hire - £12.00 first day / £8.00 on day 2 and every day thereafter.
Half day hires - £8.00
Groups hiring 4 or more adult bikes will attract a 5% discount on full day hires.
Groups hiring 6 or more adult bikes will attract a 7.5% discount on full day hires.
If you are requesting full day and multi day bike hires we offer a delivery and pick up service to wherever you are staying on the Isle of Barra. There will be a nominal cost to cover time and fuel. In many cases during busy times, we may deliver your bikes the evening before the day of hire or very early in the morning so that you can get on your bike adventure as early as you like on your actual hire day(s). Note delivery is available only when our transport is on Barra. We will advise on availability on bike hire booking.
For part-day hires we normally ask customers to collect the bikes from our bike hire outlet at the Buth Bharraigh (Barra Community Shop) in Castlebay. Find us at the bottom of the steps that lead up to the main entrance of The Castlebay Hotel.
